Obviously you don't understand what I was referring to (as always with you). I was referring to the immediate build of a pvp character without playing the pve portion of the game. There will not be any PVP PAKS for sale at the outset and those that play in the WORLD PVP will have to build up their power for it and will NOT be getting any everyone is equal status IF YOU GO BACK AND READ PREVIOUS INTERVIEWS you would know this as well. Only GvG will get the everyone is equal ability and there won't be any other PVP only characters at the build screen any longer except for GvG.

What they are doing is really bringing back the OLD days of PVP when you had to earn faction points to buy your skills for a pure PVP character except this time it's going to be in the persistant world as an RPG player not a pure PVP player (from the article the only pure pvp player will be for GvG). So that other portion of the PVP only character is Going BYE BYE. Read the article and then go back and read about how WORLD PVP is going to work there's not going to be any auto max level max gear max whatever in the WORLD PVP and that's the only one that matters to me. GvG is an offset of the whole, much like the whines about UB and SYS are offsets of the whole community which enjoy it as we have discussed in other threads already.

"World PvP" is analgous to AB. In Guild Wars terminology, that's barely PvP, hence the confusion.

Anyway, in World PvP you don't even have fair sizing of teams, let alone levels, item/skill limitations is just the tip of the iceberg. I'm wondering what they plan on doing to make this mode compelling and fun while encompassing such drastic imbalances.

Some pretty good news in this interview from my perspective... combat system is sounding better all the time, and their approach to PvP balance sounds much improved.

I'm interested in how they will implement this possible NO level cap...I've always liked the lvl 20 cap in GW, so i'm curious as to see what will happen with either a drastically higher level cap, or none at all. If we're buffed to the highest levelled player in our team, how will that effect PvP teams, and if that's the case, what's the point of levels at all? Will be curious to see it developed, or more information on it at least.

i think they should take out levels all together, don't label it, you know, just calculate the experience points. only you will know how many experience you have and what type of damage you can do that should be fun. run towards another player trying to kill them and boom you die :P~

This is actually very nice lol (self praise)

If you are experience one should be able to tell how high the players level is at by looking at the armor and weapons. don't know but i think it would be fun.

MAybe before they dive into the persistant world fad they should take a hard look at all the persistant world games no bodys playing because theres more grief than good from all of it.

Anytime you allow people into your private world they will be a portion of them that are there for the sole purpose to ruin your fun, and you can sure bet they'll find way no matter what fixes they can think of. So is it really worth it? All for what? To cater to the RP crowd so they can have a world to RP in? Geez you we really want to let everyone out of town?


I dont see any good from perstiatnt worlds, none that cant be done in instances. You want grouping on the fly? Easy, let people join your instance while youre alraedy in it. There that solves the only good that could come from a persitance world without having to have one. But I think they're going for persistant worlds because they think itll be a selling point for potential customers. Hey look we have persistant world with NO monthly fees which is fine if you actually believe thats a selling point, and its not, its just a buzz word created by old veteran mmo forum whiners that want a free for all PVE they can grief not unlike free for all PVP. And the millions of players playing guildwars solo will be turned off by this feature, the ones that want to play in private whever they feel like without haveing to rely on others will now be invaded by RP griefers runing around the lands desperately looking for friends agroing mobs just causing a ton of crap most of us could do without.

The solution would be to give us the option, let us choose between a private instance of the world or a public instance of the world. Give us the option to allow these people into our story, afterall this is our story right? Im the hero out to save the world, im not a part of a team for some greater good, Im the hero thats what I paid for.

And Id bet you anything given the option, people will pick a private instance of their world than a public one, all the more reason to ask yourself, why again do we want an instanced world? Public instances wont be ulike RP servers , ghost towns because we would rather just play the damn game in peace, when we want however we want, with or without people they key WE CHOOSE. Taking away that option is a fatal mistake. The reason all these othere games are persistant is because they have no content, they rely on the people themselves to be the content, thats the main difference beweteen Guild Wars and the other MMO's for me its that it actually has content worth playing, and I dont see the reason to share this content with the random public, not unless im willing to and ill lbe damned if im forced to.

Then I will honorably stand corrected, although the "as always with you" comment leaves a lot to be desired.

Fortunately, it seems like the "world PvP" is more a tossing-of-the-bone, with GvG still being the emphasis. As long as the equality is enforced on the prime and not the gank-fest, then I'm not worried.

I've been noticing a lot of concern of "spawn camping" and the likes. If we go back to the comment of "GW:EN be a series of tests for GW2", then maybe you'll recall those solo quests where you'd have to fight a beastie. Notice how it took you alone into your own little private instance? Methinks it'll be along those lines.

I just love the fun that comes out of spawn camping when one side brings their whole guild and then the other side brings theirs then a 3rd guild shows up with theirs and it's a battle royal to see who hits the mob first to lay claim to it and the prize it drops. I remember those from EVERQUEST and they were hilarious sometimes. Just LISTENING to all the verbage was fun enough sometimes.

Persistant worlds can be fun if you don't get so tied up into gotta have this now attitude or MINE MINE MINE DAMMIT MINE attitude. That's what I saw a lot of in other mmorpgs just selfish people bullying their way into what they wanted then and once they farmed it forever and a day they would finally end up moving on and you'd finally get YOUR chance. I mean what's the hurry there's no monthly fees in GW2 either.

lol. a rant! anywayz, i agree that instead of a persistent world, they should just allow us to join an instanced group on the fly and not having idiots running around your screen screwing everything up. I tried WoW and Ragnarok Online but those games kinda got boring and WoW persistence just got me pissed off at people randomly attacking my targets (Ragnarok Online was pretty fun though).

I am just glad that they still have instanced stuff for story related missions. Afterall I remember them saying that instanced areas help with storytelling (probably by not having a bunch of random people running around in the background of a cutscene which would happen if it was persistance XD)

but I am a story buff <3 so I would say that
